Tech Interns

Tech Interns 150 150 AID:Tech
    April 1, 2019
    Dublin, Ireland
    Job Type

Looking to make real impact in the world, rather than simply fill any desk  - this could be for you.

AID:Tech brings identity, donations and services in a transparent way to the billions of underserved of the world by leveraging Blockchain, Microservices, Biometrics and AI.

An internship with us will fulfil and challenge you in equal measures. Expect to learn a lot and work agile, in close contact with the whole team to help develop either our backend or frontend. Our products are B2B2C and B2C - the range of work involved is hugely diverse and it stays interesting and challenging.

The perks? Solving complex real-world problems and seeing your work being deployed in projects across the world, making the distribution of donations and services transparent and empowering individuals to own their identities.

    Tech skills

Our tech stack is Linux-centric (so it’s great if you know bash/zsh), and we use a lot of JavaScript (Node.js) and related front and back-end tools. We also use Microservices and containers (Docker). Some knowledge/interest in Cryptography/Blockchain also won’t go amiss.

We don’t expect you to master our entire tech stack.  With a decent amount of motivation you can pick up missing tech skills over the course of the internship.

But we do expect you to be passionate about computer science and building robust, well-tested software (through solid documentation and unit and functional tests) and know how to develop it in a robust and agile way while collaborating with others (we are using git-flow type workflows). We’d love to see one of the hobby projects you hacked in your free time 🙂

You are ambitious but eager to learn. You are ready to ask for help because we (and hopefully you) know that no one knows everything. If you are not afraid to learn a new programming language in the space of a few weeks and thrive discovering new frameworks and tools, you will have a lot of fun with us.

You understand what startups entail. Like us, you are lean and mean, and you are not a 9-5 kind of worker bee - you are happy to go an extra mile to make sure things are done, and done well.

You communicate clearly and decisively. You are articulate, in both speech and writing, complex concepts and details, in a concise and simple manner.

You are well versed in remote collaboration - particularly great if you’re familiar with Slack and other communication tools. You are happy working both independently and as part of a close-knit team.

You set (ours and your) expectations realistically and strive to go above and beyond them.
